The Sherrod Institute To Host Annual Farm Field Day & Gala, With A Circle of Sisters Celebrating Shirley Sherrod’s 60 Years of Service

Albany, Georgia>>> The Sherrod Institute will be hosting its Sixth Annual Farm Field Day, along with a benefit dinner featuring a roster of prominent women celebrating founder Shirley Sherrod’s six decades of service. The two-day event will take place first on Thursday, April 23rd with the farm workshops, tours and other activities starting at 9 a.m. at Resora, The Sherrod Institute’s main campus located at 801 Old Pretoria Road, Albany 31721. The second day, Friday, April 24th starting at 9 a.m. The Institute and its partners will host more workshops and training sessions this time at The Hilton Garden Inn, at 101 S. Front Street, in downtown Albany. Later, that same evening starting at 6:30 p.m., a benefit gala will be hosted. All attendees are asked to register at SherrodInstitute.org, where they can also purchase gala tickets. Special guest speakers at the benefit dinner will include Black Voters Matter cofounder Latosha Brown, Jubilee Justice founder Konda Mason, Children’s Defense Fund regional director Oleta Garrett Fitzgerald and retired judge, TV personality and former U.S. ag official Dr. Penny Brown Reynolds. Also featured is Ms. Rutha Mae Harris, a founding member of the original Freedom Singers. They include soil enrichment, the importance of biodiversity and the value of organic farming. Other sessions will focus on estate planning, tech advances in farming, land retention, cooperative development and available farmer support.
